| Molded and overmolded cable assemblies provide extra protection and strain relief to cables ensuring that the interface between the cable andbackshell of the connector are not able to be damaged. |

| Most of our overmolded cable assemblies use a two step process to produce a molded cables. First a pre-mold is applied to the bare wires and backshell of the connector. This premold may either be applied using a drip method, or in most cases it is injected at lower pressure. Once the premold is applied, the cables are then tested again for continuity/electrical connections. The tested cables are then overmolded with a higher pressure cosmetic plastic such as colored PVC on encapsulate the wires, pins, backshell and premold into a hard casing to ensure that it can not be damaged in the future. |

| Cypress Industries has a full machine shop in Austin Texas in the event we need to manufacture custom overmold tooling in the USA. The large majority of our tools are built at our China tool shop and flown into the USA. Lead times are shorter than USA tooling and the cost (even with air freight) is still substantially cheaper. For many customers we manufacture duplicate tools, USA for quick-turn molded cable assemblies and China for higher volume overmolded cable assemblies. |

| Cypress Industries has hundreds of standard overmold tools. We can also customize tools with your logos, or customer strain reliefs if desired. Typically lead times for tooling for custom molded cable assemblies are about two weeks. We can also utilize custom resins such as PVC blends, low smoke zero halogen (LSZH), plenum, fire retardant (FR), and metal impregnated resins for EMI shields. |

| Wire and cable harness overmolding can be used to protect wire harnesses that are being routed in cabinets, gaming equipment, or areas that may have tight bends. Over time, standard wire harnesses that are put in enclosures with tight turns and bends may have pins pull out, or fail over time. Using custom wire harness overmolds can ensure your pins are secured in your connectors of your wire harnesses and limit failure points. Custom cable harness overmolds can also be color coded to expedite installation and troubleshooting times. |
